LASIKLASIK, Laser-assisted in situ Keratomileusis, is refractive laser eye surgery used for correcting problems with vision such as hyperopia, astigmatism and myopia. Many people choose this type of eye surgery to forgo wearing contact lenses and eye glasses. The surgery is becoming fairly commonplace, with patients usually enjoying clearer vision by the next day.LASIK is performed by creating a flap of corneal tissue and remodeling the cornea underneath the flap with a laser. The procedure takes under an hour and you may go home after resting for a bit, although someone else must drive. Many people achieve 20/20 vision with LASIK, though some may only achieve 20/40. LAKIK only works on either nearsightedness or farsightedness. If you have both, you may still have to wear reading glasses or contacts to completely correct your vision. Points of Interest
