KidneysThe kidneys are very important organs for filtering and disposing of toxic wastes in the body. There are two of these bean-shaped organs located on either side of the spine, just below the liver. In essence, your kidneys are responsible for forming urine from body wastes produced from food and extra water in the blood. The kidneys send the toxins and water to the bladder, allowing waste disposal. The kidneys are responsible for regulating chemicals in the blood such as potassium, sodium and phosphorus, and returning them to the body. The kidneys are also responsible for functions such as regulating blood pressure, maintaining calcium levels and making red blood cells. Points of Interest
