NorepinephrineNorepinephrine is a neurotransmitter that is released at synaptic nerve endings to transmit chemical communication from a nerve cell to other cells. This neurotransmitter can act as either a stress hormone or a drug. When acting as a stress hormone, it can affect attention span, heart rate, glucose releasing into the blood stream and can increase blood flow to the skeletal muscle, causing arousal or the flight or fight reaction. When acting as a drug, it can increase blood pressure resulting in a drop of the heart rate. The release of norepinephrine is activated by stressful events and physiological changes.
