WHAT IS THE MOST COMMONLY USED ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE THERAPY ?It depends on how you define alternative medicine. According to a survey conducted by two governmental organizations (the national center for complementary and alternative medicine and the NCHS, or national center for health statistics), prayer was indicated to be the most commonly used form of alternative medicine therapy. However, if "prayer" is not included in the definition of alternative medicine, then, according to those surveyed, the most common alternative medicine therapy is the use of natural health supplements. And, apparently, the most commonly used supplements (as reported by the survey respondents and in rank order) were the herbs echinacea, ginseng, and gingko.Other popular alternative medicine and complementary medicine therapies included deep breathing exercises, meditation, chiropractor adjustments, yoga, and massage.
