WHAT ARE DNA DIETS ?

DNA is an acronym that stands for dexoyribonucleic acid. DNA is essentially the set of blueprints that forms the basis for how each person "turns out". Hair color, eye color, skin color, all are determined by one's DNA code.

However, other phenotypical traits (traits of a person's outward appearance) are also determined, or at least strongly influenced, by one's DNA, including body build and one's propensity to gain or lose weight.

This being the case, it was probably only a matter of time before DNA diets began to appear. DNA diets make the claim that individuals may lose weight by following dietary guidelines determined as a result of DNA analysis.

DNA diets seem to be related to nutrigenomics, an area of study that considers how an individual's genetic characteristics and dietary choices may interact and affect their susceptibility to certain illnesses.
