What are the potential advantages of taking alpha-carotene ?

There are several advantages that come with alpha-carotene. First of all, your body can convert alpha-carotene into vitamin A for the maintenance of healthy skin and bones, good vision, and a robust immune system. However, alpha-carotene is also a powerful antioxidant, and helps protect the body from free-radical damage that can lead to chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer.

Additionally, this particular antioxidant may help prevent cancer by stimulating cell-to-cell communication, a process which researchers now believe is necessary to ensure proper cell division (animal studies have shown a dramatic decrease in the incidence of tumors).

Other potential advantages that come with alpha-carotene: protection for the eyes and skin against UV; a reduced risk of cataract formation; and a decrease in the incidence of stroke.
