Can you get enough Superoxide Dismutase from food and dietary sources ?
Dietary sources of Superoxide Dismutase include barley grass, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, wheat grass, and most green plants. However, research concerning the potential antioxidant, anti-aging, and anti-inflammatory benefits of Superoxide Dismutase have involved amounts of SOD that are much higher than what can be obtained from dietary sources.
Superoxide Dismutase is available in supplemental form by injection, sublingual oral supplements, enteric-coated pills, and topical creams. However, keep in mind that this substance must be absorbed in the small intestines, so it is important to choose oral supplements that are either enteric coated or sublingual in order to bypass the stomach acid that destroys Superoxide Dismutase before it can be absorbed by the body. Adequate amounts of copper, zinc, and manganese are needed for your body to manufacture Superoxide Dismutase, so make sure you are getting enough of these nutrients as well.
