Can you get enough Omega 3 fatty acids from food and dietary sources ?

Whether or not you can get enough omega 3 fatty acids from food and dietary sources may depend largely on your food preferences and, possibly, on your wallet. Omega 3 fatty acids are plentiful in oily fish, nuts, and oil, dietary sources that many individuals consume sparingly or infrequently.

If you don’t like or regularly consume fish, or if your diet lacks sufficient amounts of healthy fats (definitely not the kind normally found in processed foods), you’re probably not getting enough omega-3 from food and dietary sources to provide sufficient cardiovascular and anti-inflammatory protection. As a dietary supplement, omega-3 fatty acids are available in fish oil and flaxseed oil supplements.
