What conditions or problems is Paba used for ?
PABA is used to prevent and treat a variety of conditions associated with disorders of the hair and skin. Used topically, PABA acts as a sunscreen, and may help prevent early wrinkling and skin cancer. Oral PABA supplements are sometimes used to restore natural color to graying hair, prevent hair loss, provide antioxidant protection, or to improve skin tone and texture. PABA may help treat symptoms of vitiligo, a condition that causes discoloration or loss of pigment in the skin. It may also help prevent abnormal buildup of fibrous tissue, and has been shown to increase the effects of cortisone; large doses of PABA has also been used to treat Peyronie's disease and scleroderma. PABA may be helpful for treatment of mild hyperthyroidism. Of course, anyone with a serious medical condition should consult a physician before embarking on any form of supplemental treatment.
