What conditions or problems is alpha-carotene used for ?

Alpha-carotene is an antioxidant and a carotenoid that may be very helpful regarding a number of different conditions. Alpha carotene is known to be beneficial to the eyes and may reduce the risk of AMD, or Age-Related Macular Degeneration. Alpha-carotene may also be helpful regarding the following health problems: angina, asthma, cataracts, cervical cancer, heart disease, lung cancer, infertility, arthritis, prostate cancer, and skin cancer.

Alpha-carotene is a fairly potent antioxidant with strong free-radical-fighting properties. In fact, according to Dr. Earl Mindell, alpha-carotene may be ten times more powerful than beta-carotene when it comes to protecting the skin, eyes, liver, and lungs from the various problems that may be hastened by the accumulation of free radical damage.
