Are there risks associated with using vitamin e ?
There are some serious risks associated with taking too much vitamin E for those with heart disease. Amounts of 400 IU every other day have recently been linked to an increased incidence of heart failure in those with previously existing cardiovascular conditions.
People with heart disease or those at risk of heart disease should not take vitamin E supplements at this time. Vitamin E may increase the action of anticoagulants (blood thinners), and can interfere with the bodys absorption of vitamin K, which is also involved in blood coagulation. Additionally, too much vitamin E may reduce the bodys supply of vitamin A, alter the immune system, and impair sexual function.
