Acupressure

Acupressure is a form of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that was born of acupuncture. In acupressure the same meridians, or acupuncture energy points, are utilized to move energy through the body and create health. While acupuncture uses fine needles, acupressure uses fingertips, elbows, hands and even feet to press and stimulate these points, without needles.

It is thought that stimulating these points can relieve pain, balance the body, reduce tension and increase circulation. Acupressure is a safe and gentle therapy that can be employed by anyone with an education about meridian locations and oftentimes uses other forms of bodywork in tandem with acupressure, such as Reiki, therapeutic touch, massage therapy and imagery.

Acupressure is a good choice for someone wanting to try alternative, energy healing, but does not want to endure the needles of acupuncture. Acupressure is safe to do on yourself and others.
